Our Assistant Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro. John Porter was out visiting in the Province again this month. This time we headed up to The George Farnworth Nuttall Lodge of Mark Master Masons No. 1405. It was the Lodges Installation evening and W.Bro. Porter was accompanied by a deputation of eight officers for the evening.
Master Elect, Bro. David Stansfield was installed in fine form by W.Bro. Stephen Jackson. He followed up the installation with a perfect Address to the Master. The Address to the Wardens was delivered by V.W.Bro. Graham Mangham and the Address to the Brethren was delivered by our APGM W.Bro. John Porter.
The George Farnworth Nuttall Lodge of Mark Master Masons No. 1405 was consecrated in March 1973. Clayton-Le-Moors Masonic Hall has a very interesting history. The building was an old Corn Mill founded in 1841 by Joseph Appleby a highly regarded Industrialist and Philanthropist of the time, the Mill was serviced by both road and canal. in 1966 the property was converted into a Masonic Hall. At that time, the House comprised 27 rooms; the building was gutted and reduced to 13 rooms. After this conversion, the first Masonic meeting at Mill House was in November 1971. Once again, this is one of the halls in the Province we urge you to go out and visit as it’s bursting with character and the intimate setting of the rooms make for fantastic meetings!
